Helen Turner is events manager at Honda and has worked at the brand for 18 years. A passion for motorcycles (she has a full bike licence) led to her current role. Turner started working on events for the motorcycles part of the business and is now responsible for all events within Honda UK.
What does a year in Honda UK's event calendar look like?
We run many events, ranging from conferences, awards dinners, dealer events, product launches, media events and festivals, to large consumer and trade shows and dealer incentives - the list is endless. My team runs events for cars, motorcycles and our power product business areas. We mainly operate within the UK but do travel as and when required.
Have you done more or fewer events in 2015 than in previous years?
Honda has had a very busy year, with many diverse events because of the nature of our product range. My highlight has been our 'toy box'-themed stand at Goodwood Festival of Speed, where we worked with agency Jack Morton on a design created to look like a collection of children's toy cars, with over-sized toy boxes featuring life-size cars sitting inside each one. It's exciting seeing an idea come to life and watching the enjoyment it gives to visitors. What's the most challenging aspect of your role?
To keep improving and evolving what we do while being mindful of increasing our return on investment. We are constantly looking at new ways to create fun and engaging events that appeal to our audience. I work within a great team of people and I have a 'dynamic duo' who work with me in Honda full-time on our event programme, as well as working with a number of preferred agencies. No one day is the same.
What's your outlook for events in 2016?
Our outlook for next year is exciting. We will be looking to build upon our successes, enhance what we do and continue to promote our fantastic range of products.
